The Los Alamos Police Department won the Gold Award for raising the most funds during 2023 for Special Olympics New Mexico (SONM). Los Alamos School Of Gymnastics Atomic Tumblers Compete Well In Winter Fiesta Meet In Albuquerque

Los Alamos School of Gymnastics (LASG) Atomic Tumblers traveled to the Albuquerque Convention Center last weekend to compete in the Winter Fiesta Meet hosted by Precision Gymnastics of Albuquerque. There were 775 gymnasts from 17 New Mexico and Colorado teams competing.

Ten of the 12 LASG Bronze level gymnasts competed. Once again Lucy Meierbachtol was the high scorer for Los Alamos. She took third in the children’s age group, winning the Bronze medal in the all around with a 36.25. Meierbachtol Read More

Topper Basketball Falls To SunDevils 45-54

Lan Frazier and Kevin Coffeen tip-off the ball to start the game Thursday night in which the SunDevils hosted the Toppers in the Del Valdez Gymnasium in Española. The Toppers led most of the first half as the SunDevils came out cold shooting from the floor, so the Toppers took advantage of that and stayed ahead. But in the second half, the SunDevils’ shooting improved, and they pulled ahead for the win 54-45. Facing Gopher Challenges At County Parks & Sports Fields

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Parks Division is committed to ensuring the safety and usability across all county parks and sports fields, including those at Overlook Park. So when citizens began to express concern over the presence of gophers and their potential hazards, Superintendent Wendy Parker ramped up her already aggressive approach to address and mitigate these challenges.

Record-Setting Swim At Santa Fe’s Griffin Invitational Leads Hilltoppers Swim And Dive Team To Strong 2024 Start

LAHS SPORTS News:

After a five-week pause in competitions, the Los Alamos High School Hilltoppers Swim and Dive Team started the new year with a strong showing at Santa Fe’s Griffin Invitational Jan. 25, 26 and 27.

The boys team edged out Albuquerque Academy to take first place and the girls came in second behind the Academy girls in the 21-team field.

In one of the biggest highlights of the weekend, Anna Wetteland’s performance in the 500-yard Freestyle beat a 19-year-old Los Alamos High School record and dominated the field, finishing 22 seconds faster than her closest rival.
