Early Morning Traffic Controls On Canyon Road March 1

COUNTY News:

Crews from the Los Alamos County Department of Public Utilities will be doing work at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 1 on the shoulder of Canyon Road near the bus stop in front of the Aquatic Center.

While the work is expected to be completed in under an hour, traffic controls will be in place. Cones will make a slight traffic diversion and the bike lane and sidewalk will be closed in the work area.

NMDOT: Get Home Safely On Fat Tuesday

NMDOT News:

ALBUQUERQUE — The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT)  and its partners are promoting a safe ride home program to combat drunk driving in New Mexico.

Since 2018, NMDOT has partnered with Bernalillo County, the city of Albuquerque, Cumulus radio stations and Uber have provided more than 26,000 safe rides home by supporting the “Take a Ride on Us” program for people living in the Bernalillo County metro area.

The program offers 500 participants living in and around Albuquerque an Uber credit of up to $15, two rides per person beginning noon Tuesday, March 1 through 3 a.m. Read More

Atomic City Transit Closed On President’s Day Monday

Atomic City Transit (ACT) has announced that buses will not be in service Monday, Feb 21, in observance of the President’s Day holiday.

Regular service will resume Tuesday, Feb. 22.

Atomic City Transit: Temporary Bus Stop Closures And Detour In White Rock Begin Tuesday

Beginning Tuesday Feb. 22, Atomic City Transit (ACT) in-bound Route 2T in White Rock will detour from Aztec Avenue to Rover Boulevard onto Grand Canyon due to the road construction project on Sherwood Boulevard.

Bus Stop #594 (Grand Canyon Drive and Sherwood Boulevard and Bus Stop #483 (Grand Canyon Drive and Cheryl Avenue) will be closed through the duration of the project – completion on this project is scheduled for the middle of July.

Sherwood Boulevard Roadway And Drainage Improvement Project Begins Monday In White Rock

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County announces that Star Paving will begin construction activities on a roadway and drainage improvement project Monday, Feb. 21 on Sherwood Boulevard in White Rock.

Work hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The contractor will coordinate with residents when removal of vehicles from their street will need to take place, and when required by contractor parking on the street will be prohibited.

Motorists are urged to use caution in the work zone.

Project phases include:

DOE/NNSA: Statement Of Findings Issued For West Road Post & Cable Fencing Project

DOE/NNSA News:

The Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration’s (DOE/NNSA) Los Alamos Field Office has issued a Floodplain Statement of Findings for proposed installation of post and cable or in-kind barriers along West Road at selected locations near the Los Alamos County ice-skating rink in Los Alamos Canyon.

The proposed project is intended to improve vehicular and pedestrian safety on West Road by reducing traffic hazards associated with unsafe roadside parking and reduce wildland fire hazards associated with vehicles driving and parking on vegetation. West Read More

The Los Alamos Police Department reports that seven people sustained injuries in a two-vehicle accident earlier this morning on Diamond and Club Road. The extent of the injuries is unknown at this time.
