Traffic Alert: Trailer Blocking Roadway On N.M. 4

Traffic Alert:

A vehicle pulling a trailer with construction sheet rock has flipped over, blocking the lanes on N.M. 4 between the truck route (East Jemez Road) and the community of White Rock, at mile marker 66.

Los Alamos Police Department is asking motorists to proceed with caution and avoid the area if at all possible to allow responders to clear the scene. Read More

Texas A&M Maritime Academy Stands Ready To Accept New 525-Foot Training Ship

A&M UNIVERSITY News:

WASHINGTON, D.C. & COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Texas A&M University’s maritime academy is closer than any time in the past 15 years to being able to dock a training ship in Galveston.

The yet-to-be-built ship would be able to take 600 cadets to sea, compared with 50 today, and serve double duty as the only hurricane relief vessel in the entire Gulf of Mexico.

Changes To Traffic Pattern On NM 502 In Los Alamos

NMDOT News:

The New Mexico Department of Transportation would like the traveling public to be aware of changes to the current traffic pattern in the construction zone on N.M. 502 in Los Alamos.

Effective Monday Aug. 3, 2020, N.M. 502 will be partially reopened to through traffic. There will be one lane open in each direction from Tewa Loop to DP Road.

Access to local streets from Tewa Loop to Arroyo Lane will still be provided.

Access to Central Avenue and 4th Street from N.M. 502 will be closed for construction of the roundabout.

Traffic Alert: Pavement Patching Begins On Central Thursday

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Traffic & Streets Division will begin a Pavement Preservation Project Thursday, July 30 along Central Avenue.

Crews will patch the pavement between 15th Street and Oppenheimer Drive.

In order to limit business and resident disruption, this work has been scheduled to occur at night.

Crews will use a one-lane closure with a flagging operation 6-8 p.m. and beginning at 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. Friday, Central Avenue will be closed from 15th Street to Oppenheimer Drive.

It is anticipated that this work will be completed in one night.
