SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Transportation is informing the traveling public that a Mill and Overlay project will begin Monday, March 2 on Interstate 25 both northbound and southbound from La Bahada Hill to just south of Cerrillos Road.
To accommodate morning and evening commute times and eliminate potential slowdowns during peak travel times, two northbound lanes of Interstate 25 will be open daily 7-9 a.m. and two southbound lanes will be open daily 4-6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Traffic Alert:
Water crews with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities will close a small section of 43rd Street north of Urban in North Community Thursday, Feb. 27 to replace a water service line.
The road closure and work are scheduled for one day only.
Crews will close this small section of road near the property at 2164 43 St. beginning at 7:30 a.m. and reopen by 7 p.m. Thursday.
DPU crews will maintain access to residents’ homes at all times. No water service interruption is anticipated.
Drivers are urged to observe the speed limit and traffic control signs.

COUNTY News:
A geotechnical contractor will be conducting field exploratory sampling Wednesday Feb. 26 through Friday Feb. 28.
Utility locate markings will be present on roads where sampling will be performed. Large trucks with a drilling apparatus will be utilized to obtain core samples of asphalt and subsurface soils for analysis.
The results of the analysis will assist Public Works staff in determining future roadway and pavement preservation improvements.

Parker Construction, under contract with Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities, will reroute and replace a failed section of sewer.
Beginning Monday, Feb. 24, new public sewer main pipelines between Pine Street and the existing main on the north side of Quartz Street will be installed.
Work will continue for 30 days with crews working 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. At times, traffic will be restricted to one lane at the very short construction zone in Quartz Street.

Beginning Thursday, Feb. 20 through Fe. 25, the Los Alamos County Traffic and Streets Division of the Public Works Department will be working on Canyon Road, between 15th Street and the Aquatic Center.
Crews will be clearing vegetation along the medians and sidewalks. A flagging operation will be in place 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., during the weekdays.
