Traffic Alert: North Road Remains Closed At Diamond

COUNTY News:

North Road at the intersection of Diamond Drive remains closed due to a water break that occurred Thursday morning. 

Traffic to and from Quemazon is rerouted on Sycamore.

Other traffic impacts include a southbound lane drop on Diamond, which includes the closure of the bike lane and sidewalk on the west side of Diamond.

Temporary repairs are estimated to be complete by early next week.

Traffic Alert: North Road Closed At Diamond Drive

Traffic Alert:

The Department of Public Utilities reports that a water break, which occurred Thursday morning, forced a closure of North Road at Diamond Drive.

While the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities water crews were able to isolate the line at noon Thursday and stop the flow of water, North Road was compromised and remains closed to all vehicles. 

Traffic to and from the Quemazon community is being rerouted on Sycamore Street.

Bureau Of Land Management Suspends Entrance Fees On All Public Lands Across America Until Further Notice

BLM News:

WASHINGTON, D.C. — After careful consideration and at the direction of Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will temporarily suspend the collection of all entrance fees until further notice.

As a result, site-specific standard amenity and day-use fees at BLM recreation sites and areas will be waived for the foreseeable future. Other fees, such as overnight camping, cabin rentals, group day use, and use of special areas, will remain in effect.

Los Alamos County Atomic City Transit would like to provide some answers to the public about frequently asked questions regarding the Dial-a-Ride service currently in operation, while fixed-route services are suspended:

Can anyone use the Dial-a-Ride service?

  • Yes. This service is currently available to the public.

  • Yes. We are currently providing Dial-a-Ride service to the entire County of Los Alamos.

County Cone Zone Report Suspended Until Further Notice

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County’s “Cone Zone” reports, which are published Friday afternoons via email, on the County webpage and through news releases with updates about roadwork coming up the following week, is being suspended until further notice.

Because of low ridership, Atomic City Transit announced today that bus fixed-route services will be suspended effective Wednesday, March 18.
