N.M. 502 (Trinity Drive) Road Closure: Monday Aug. 19

  • Los Alamos Roadway Reconstruction Project

Santa Fe – New Mexico Department of Transportation District Five and Star Paving Company continue roadway reconstruction on N.M. 502 from mile post 1.257 to mile post 2.053 in Los Alamos.

Starting Monday Aug. 19 – N.M. 502 (Trinity Drive) will be CLOSED between DP Road and Central Avenue.

The closure will be in effect 24 hours a day for the next two weeks. The closure is necessary to facilitate the crossing of the following utilities:

  • 8” water line;
  • 10” sewer line;
  • 4” gas line;
  • 12” water line; and
  • electrical and communication

Diamond Drive Paving

Star Paving is wrapping up manhole adjustments and will be pulling the steel plates on Diamond Drive between the Omega Bridge and the Sandia/Orange Intersection by early next week, completing this road work in front of the high school.

School Starts Thursday … Motorists Urged To Be Extra Cautious In School Zones And Crosswalks

LAPD News:

Los Alamos Public Schools is starting its 2019-2020 school year Thursday, Aug. 15.

This means school buses and numerous juvenile pedestrians and bicyclists will be out on sidewalks and roadways before and after school.

Please be extra cautious in school zones and around crosswalks. Remember to obey traffic laws regarding school buses and speed regulations when school zone signs are flashing: Do not pass school buses with flashing lights and stop arms extended out.

Sidewalk Work: Yucca At Arkansas Begins Tuesday

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Public Works crews will be replacing sidewalks and handicap ramps at the intersection of Arkansas Avenue and Yucca Street beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13. 

Crews also will be replacing a section of sidewalk at the entrance to Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church on North Road.

This entire project is anticipated to be complete by Aug. 21.

Vehicles and pedestrians are advised to follow all traffic control devices and slowdown in the work zone.

Forest Road 376 Closed At MM 5.3 For Public Safety

SFNF News:
 
SANTA FE The Jemez Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) has closed Forest Road (FR) 376 to through traffic due to a blocked culvert at mile marker 5.3, approximately 4 miles north of the Gilman Tunnels and 3 miles south of Porters Landing.
 
The culvert is slated for replacement, but recent monsoonal weather patterns and the subsequent runoff and debris have made it an immediate public safety issue. SFNF personnel have placed temporary barricades on both sides of the blocked area, and visitors are advised to avoid using FR 376.
