ALBUQUERQUE – Due to thunderstorms Tuesday, the road to Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument is impassable.

The Monument is closed starting and updates will be posted to www.blm.gov/visit/kktr.

County Tests School Zone Flashing Lights Aug. 13-14

COUNTY News:

Traffic and Streets Division crews will be testing School zone flashing lights County-wide Aug. 13-14 in preparation for the upcoming school year.

If motorists notice the lights flashing during hours outside of a normal school day over these two days, be advised this is a standard procedure for testing the lights. Please do not call Police Dispatch or Traffic/Streets Division to report the activity.

Crews will be working near busy streets while testing the lights; please slow down and use caution.

NCRTD Launches Angel Fire To Taos Route Aug. 12

 
NCRTD News:
 
Beginning Monday, Aug. 12, the North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD) will start a contracted bus transit service between the Village of Angel Fire in Colfax County and the Town of Taos.
 
The new service will be financed by the Village of Angel Fire with financial support from Colfax County and federal grants.

Natural Gas Purging On N.M. 502/East Road Aug. 5-6

COUNTY News:
 
Under contract with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities, Paul Parker Construction will work on a section of natural gas pipeline as part of the N.M. 502 roundabout project.
 
Work will occur early in the week on the south side of N.M. 502, east of the intersection at Canyon Road.
 
Gas will be purged from the line several times between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5 and Tuesday, Aug. 6.

Los Alamos County Launches MyDrive: New Streaming Service With Real-Time Webcam Traffic Views

Beginning today, motorists can view six different camera views featuring major roadways in Los Alamos and White Rock, after the completion of a project requested by the County Council earlier this year.
 
MyDrive was developed and implemented in July by the Traffic & Streets Division within Public Works. Crews mounted web cameras in six locations – five in Los Alamos and one in White Rock – that stream real-time views of major intersections and busy roadways.

Road Work Notice: CR 72A (Big Tesuque Canyon Road) Bridge Replacement Project Underway

SANTA FE A contractor for the Santa Fe County Public Works Department will begin excavation and construction on CR 72A (Big Tesuque Canyon Road).
 
The project consists of roadway improvements and bridge replacement on CR 72A. The project began Monday, July 29 and is scheduled to be completed Fall 2019.

RTD To Launch Summer TSV Green Route Friday

RTD News:

The North Central Regional Transit District’s RTD Blue Buses will begin a summer pilot program this Friday to provide Friday, Saturday and Sunday service between the Town of Taos and Taos Ski Valley.

RTD 341 TSV Green will run through Sunday, Sept. 29. Service will be provided on three roundtrips Friday through Sunday and provide stops along Paseo del Pueblo beginning at Chamisa Road and run though the Town, the Plaza and El Prado before turning onto N.M. 150 through Arroyo Seco, Valdez and to Taos Ski Valley.

Griggs: Fountain Eruptions On Margaret Island

While in Budapest, Hungary, recently, Los Alamos Daily Post foreign correspondent David Griggs took a boat ride on the Danube River. One option of the ride was to get off at Margaret Island and get picked up two hours later. The island is a large park, and while sitting in the shade on a bench Griggs kept hearing a strange series of noises behind him. Turning around, he saw this beautiful fountain.
