Diamond Pavement Rehabilitation Project Starts July 22

Crews with Star Paving Company are scheduled to begin work Monday, July 22 on Diamond Drive from Omega Bridge to San Ildefonso Road.

Work involves milling or removing 2 inches of the existing asphalt surface and inlaying a new pavement.

The project area is divided into two segments:

The first is between Omega Bridge to Sandia Drive/Orange Street. This work is scheduled to be substantially complete by Aug. 14 prior to the start of the school year. East Jemez Road Lane Closures Resume

East Jemez Road lane closures near the entrance to Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) will resume Friday, July 19, and continue through Saturday night.
 
Drivers will be unable to get to Los Alamos via the truck route and should use the N.M. 502/Main Hill Road instead.
 
Full lane closures will start at 6 p.m. Friday and continue through Saturday night, July 20, weather permitting.

Single Vehicle Fatal Crash On I-25 In Santa Fe County

SANTA FE — The New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal crash Sunday on Interstate 25 at about mile post 277 in Santa Fe County.  

The initial investigation indicates a 2007 Corvette was traveling south on Cerrillos Road at a high rate of speed. The driver took the south bound ramp onto Interstate 25 and for reasons unknown, the driver lost control of the vehicle and rolled. 

The driver, Hector Hugo Madrid Gutierrez, 22, of Rio Rancho was ejected and sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Gutierrez was pronounced deceased by the Office of the Medical Investigator. Read More

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office notified next of kin and has now released the names of the people involved in a car and commercial tractor trailer accident Saturday afternoon near Anderson Overlook on the Main Hill Road.

Public Information Officer Juan Ríos identified Colleen O’Bannon, 29, of Dallas, Texas, as the driver of a silver Honda who succumbed to her injuries. Her passenger is identified as Emma Garelick, 28, of Denton, Texas who sustained minor injuries.

New Mexico Airports Receive Second Round Of Funding For Improvement Projects

SANTA FE ― The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is awarding $3.18 billion in airport infrastructure grants across the United States in 2019.
