SANTA FE — The New Mexico Transit Association (NMTA) has announced that it has elected Los Alamos County Public Works Director Philo Shelton as president of the New Mexico Transit Association (NMTA) April 8 at its annual conference in Santa Fe. Shelton replaces Tony Mortillaro who remains on the board.

Four at large positions were up for election this year. Two new members were chosen and two others were re-elected.

NMDOT Encourages Safe Driving In Work Zones

SANTA FE  The New Mexico Department of Transportation is reminding motorists to drive safely in work zones in coordination with National Work Zone Awareness Week, April 9-13.

NCRTD To Receive $3.6 million FTA Grant To Construct New Maintenance Facility

NCRTD News:

The North Central Regional Transit District will be the recipient of $3.6 million as part of a US Department of Transportation/Federal Transit Administration (FTA) grant “to modernize and improve America’s bus infrastructure” and construct a new 12,000 sq. ft maintenance facility at the District’s Espanola headquarters.

The facility will be constructed to service the District’s fleet of 65 vehicles and include a separate building to house vehicle washing bays.

NNSA: LANL Road Construction Contract Awarded

NNSA News:

Road improvements to several stretches of highways to and from Los Alamos National Laboratory will begin in about a month, following a $7 million contract award to Albuquerque Asphalt, Inc.

The road project is part of a $34.5 million settlement agreement between the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) and the U.S. Department of Energy following the February 2014 drum breach at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant.

The Supplemental Environmental Projects agreement requires DOE to perform several safety and environmental improvements to support LANL operations.
