Bridge Rehabilitation Project On NM 118 Underway

GALLUP — Work on $4.5 million in a bridge rehabilitation project is taking place west of Gallup on NM 118 starting at mile post 9.2.

This project includes bridge and drainage improvements, guardrail replacement, fencing and striping of three bridges on NM 118 between mile marker 5.5 to 11.5. 

NM 118 will be closed in both directions at mile marker 9.2. Drivers are asked to use I-40 as a detour.

Hasse Contracting Inc. is the contractor for the project. Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, weather permitting. The project is expected to be completed in late September. Read More

SANTA FE — Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham arrived in Tokyo Tuesday to continue discussions launched in 2025 about economic partnership opportunities between New Mexico and Japan.

Roadwork To Resume On I-40 East Of Gallup

GALLUP — The second phase of the $34.5 million roadway reconstruction project on I-40, east of Gallup, will resume on May 11.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) District Six, along with FNF Construction, Inc. (Contractor) will be rebuilding two 12-foot driving lanes with 12-foot inside and outside shoulders on I-40 eastbound and westbound.

There will be two lanes open to traffic in each direction during the project and speed will be reduced to 65 miles per hour in the work zone. The work hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Bridge Replacement Project On NM 337 Starts May 15

ESTANCIA — Travelers along the east side of the Manzano mountains may experience traffic delays as two new bridges are built to replace the aging ones on NM 337.

Starting on May 15, bridges 5824 and 5825 north of Torreon are scheduled to be demolished and replaced with new structures in their place. This project will cost $8,029,660 and is expected to wrap up on June 11, 2027, weather permitting.

UPDATE: N.M. 502 has reopened to traffic in both directions.

The Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) is sharing the following information related to the N.M. 502 closure:

The Santa Fe Sheriff’s Office has notified Los Alamos Police that they will be closing N.M. 502 in both directions at mile marker 13 due to a head-on collision with injuries. 

The crash is located about 3 miles east of N.M. 30 and 2 miles west of Pojoaque High School. 

It is unknown how long the closure will remain in effect.  Commuters are encouraged to seek an alternate route and to expect delays. Read More
