Police Checkpoints & Saturation Patrols Across State In May

NMSP News: 

New Mexico State Police (NMSP) will be conducting sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols, and registration, insurance, and driver’s license checkpoints in all New Mexico counties during May 2026.

NMSP is bringing awareness to these events to reduce impaired driving-related fatalities through continued media attention and intensive advertising.

These checkpoints are helping to change society’s attitude about driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs.

Pavement Preservation Project On US 285 To Start April 22

NMDOT News:

SANTA FE COUNTY — The New Mexico Department of Transportation District Five office will begin a nearly $6.3M pavement preservation project on US 285 between White Lakes and El Dorado on Wednesday, April 22.

This project, from milepost 270 to milepost 290.50 includes a novachip overlay on the existing asphalt, and re-striping of the roadway. A novachip overlay is a method in which an application of asphalt is applied over the existing surface. This process prolongs the lifespan of the road without full reconstruction.

Traffic Alert: NM 4 Closed In Both Ways Due To Rollover

LAPD Traffic Alert:

The Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) reports that a stretch of N.M. 4 is closed in both directions due to a rollover accident on N.M. 4 at mile marker 49 – approximately one mile west of Bandelier National Monument.

Injuries in this accident are unknown, but Los Alamos Fire Department personnel are at the scene using the jaws of life to remove the driver.

Motorists should avoid the area and seek alternative routes. Read More
