Los Alamos Gravity Race Is Cancelled

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos Gravity Race, originally scheduled fortoday, Oct. 12, has been cancelled due to insufficient registration. However, the Recreation Division is already planning to try again in the Spring of 2025.

“We are looking at March 29, 2025, at the same time and place. We encourage the community to stay tuned for more details as we approach the new date and look forward to bringing this exciting event back,” Recreation Program Manager Brendan Tuning said.

Streamflow on the Rio Grande has dropped and is now less than 100 cubic-feet-per-second at Cerro. That is where the Rio Grande enters New Mexico from Colorado. 

The low water makes the stretch of river from the confluence with the Red River north to the Colorado state border in prime condition for anglers. Pools and pockets behind boulders may be fished more effectively during this low water period than they can be when the water is higher.

The LAFC U9 competitive boys soccer team took 1st Place in the Rio Rapids PowerFord Tournament! They scored 13 goals by 6 different players and only allowed 2 goals as they went 3-0 in their first tournament! New Mexico State Police Investigate Homicide In Chimayo

NMSP News:

CHIMAYO — New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Investigations Bureau were called to investigate a homicide that occurred at a residence in Chimayo.

The investigation began Aug. 26, 2024, when NMSP officers were called to a house on Private Drive 1405A, in Chimayo for reports of a domestic violence incident where a female was heard screaming for help inside a residence.

When dispatch received the domestic violence call, a second call came in about a structure fire coming from that residence. Firefighters arrived on scene to put out the fire.
