The Racial Equity and Inclusivity (REI) Task Force will hold two more listening sessions on Saturday, March 12, at the White Rock Town Hall and Saturday, March 19, at Fuller Lodge.

Los Alamos County strives to be a community that promotes equity, inclusivity, and a feeling of belonging. Members in the community are invited to attend one of the Listening Sessions below to identify gaps and make recommendations to realize this goal.

Los Alamos County Golf Course 2022 Season Delayed, But Not For Long

Though there will be bad weather slowing the opening of the golf course season, the staff are hard at work to open as soon as possible.

The Los Alamos Golf Course Pro Shop will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 13, with times for all 18 holes available 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with all rentals due back at the clubhouse by
5:30 p.m.

Don’t Be In The Dark When The Power Is Out

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Department of Public Utilities (DPU) has added a page to its web site to better inform customers about power outages. It can be found at ladpu.com/blackout.

Customers who have lived in Los Alamos for many years may recall a time when DPU recorded the address of every customer who called to say the power was out. This information was necessary to help the Electric Distribution Division crews understand the magnitude and specific location of each power outage so they could then try to pinpoint the source of the problem. Parents may register at the Y or online now through March 27. The season begins April 11. The fee is $65 for non-YMCA members and $45 for members.

Democrat Jason Wardlow-Herrera Files For County Sheriff

Jason Wardlow Herrera-D, files for Los Alamos County Sheriff this afternoon at the Municipal Building. Wardlow Herrera retired as Deputy Police Chief last year. He said one of the main duties of the Sheriff is to maintain the sex offender registry. ‘I think it is important for the community that our kids are safe … and that the community is safe in general.’ He added  that his experience with the police department would be beneficial because he already has a relationship with the department and a knowledge of the system and laws. Gary Stradling-R, files for Los Alamos County Council this afternoon in the Municipal Building. ‘I love this community and I want it to run well,’ he said. ‘There’s a lot of complaints of late with community management.’ Stradling added that he would like to make Los Alamos a great place to live, shop and have a business. According to a prepared statement, Taylor said she has more than 20 years of experience as Deputy District Attorney and Deputy Trial Counsel in California.
