As July 4th approaches, thoughts turn to outdoor events and of course fireworks. To make sure Independence Day activities do not turn tragic – follow some simple rules and guidelines.
The Los Alamos County Fire Department Fire Marshal shares a list of prohibited and permissible fireworks, which is in accordance with New Mexico State Statue – the Fireworks Licensing and Safety Act 60-2C7 that describes permissible and non-permissible fireworks.

Los Alamos Police Department Issues Public Safety Statement On 4th Of July Festivities At Overlook Park In White Rock
The Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) is informing the public of several public safety initiatives and policy statements so everyone can celebrate a happy and safe 4th of July event Tuesday at Overlook Park in White Rock.

The recent town hall on raising the minimum wage, hosted June 26 by Los Alamos County Councilors Denise Derkacs, Melanee Hand and Randall Ryti in Council Chambers, is available online on the county webpage.

Los Alamos County Council approved the sale of a lot on 20th Street during its regular meeting Tuesday night.
Council unanimously approved the sale of 375 20th St. to Pet Pangaea. The sale price is $420,000. Pet Pangaea owner Cyndi Wells previously had purchased another parcel on County-owned land at 3661 and 3689 Trinity Dr. but the new sale terminates the past land purchase and will transfer the $20,000 earnest money given for the Trinity Drive property to the 20th Street lot.
