Ashley Pond Pavilion Project Gets Underway
The Los Alamos County Parks and Open Space Division has announced the upcoming construction of new pavilions at Ashley Pond aimed to enhance community engagement and outdoor experiences for residents and visitors alike.
The project began Monday and is expected to be completed by Nov. 22, 2024. The project will start with the removal of two existing slabs, followed by site preparation for the new ones. Once the new slabs are in place, the pavilion building process will commence.

The Nov. 7 Public Input Meeting for the N.M. 4 Crossing and Multi-Use Trail Improvement Project has been canceled due to anticipated inclement weather conditions.
This meeting has been rescheduled to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5 at Fire Station #3 in White Rock.

County Snow Removal Team Reminds Residents They Also Play Crucial Role In Maintaining Clear, Safe Pathways

During the winter months, Los Alamos County’s Traffic and Streets Division works hard to ensure safe travel by plowing snow from designated streets and sidewalks. To enhance the effectiveness of snow and ice control operations, the snow removal team would like to remind residents that they also play a crucial role in maintaining clear and safe pathways.
To support this effort, residents are asked to:
- To clear sidewalks and driveways with 24 hours of the end of a storm;
- Ensure areas for trash pickup and mail or newspaper delivery are accessible; and

Scheduled Road Closure On West Jemez Road For Water Leak Repair Tuesday Nov. 5
West Jemez Road in Technical Area 16 (TA16) will be closed Tuesday, Nov. 5, near the intersection with N.M. 4 to address a significant water leak in the middle of the road.
Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) crews will be handling the repair, which is scheduled to take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or until the repair work is completed.
Drivers are advised to seek alternative routes during this time. Suggested detours include N.M. 4 through to Pajarito Road, East Jemez Road (Truck Route) and Main Hill.

Due to anticipated severe weather conditions, the Transportation Board has decided to cancel its board meeting scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 7.

DPR Electric Journeymen-Linemen Restore Outage For Circuit 13
A power outage occurred at around 8 a.m. today impacting Circuit 13, which includes about 1,300 electric customers.
Electric journeymen-linemen from the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) responded to the outage, which was caused by an overhead line fault near the Timber Ridge neighborhood.
Circuit 13 includes the Western Area down to the vicinity of Ashley Pond, as well as the Pajarito Mountain Ski Hill.
The area from Ashley Pond through Timber Ridge was reenergized by 9 a.m. Power was restored to the remainder of customers at around 9:40 a.m. today. Read More
CSD Facilities Closed Due To County Power Outages
The Aquatic Center, Ice Rink, Mesa Public Library and Social Services are temporarily closed following widespread power outages affecting the County.
All scheduled activities, classes, and events at the Aquatic Center, Ice Rink and Mesa Public Library are canceled until further notice. Additionally, the Betty Ehart Senior Activity Center has closed for the day due to snow.
