Los Alamos County Issues Response To Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham/NMDOH Mass Gatherings Ban Due To COVID-19

COUNTY News:

The increasing number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 virus spurred the Governor and New Mexico Health Department to issue a Public Health Emergency Order to Limit Mass Gatherings. In response to this, Los Alamos County began this afternoon a case-by-case assessment of all reservations, programs and events.

“The main thing is we are following the Governor’s orders,” said Los Alamos County Communications and Public Relation’s Leslie Bucklin.

TriCore Reference Laboratories now testing
SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials announced today that TriCore Reference Laboratories (TriCore) is now performing a molecular diagnostic test of respiratory specimens for COVID-19 virus.
The Department of Health’s Scientific Laboratory Division and TriCore have worked tirelessly together over the past few weeks to get their testing started. The test is provided under the FDA Emergency Use Authorization (EUA).

No Fans At NMAA State Basketball Championships

ALBUQUERQUE – Per the guidance of Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and recommendations from both the Departments of Health and Public Education, the 2020 NMAA State Basketball Championships will move forward without fans. 

Games will be played at both Dreamstyle Arena and the Santa Ana Star Center throughout the remainder of the event as originally scheduled.

Fifth Presumptive Positive COVID-19 Case Announced

Department of Health actively investigating all presumptive positives

SANTA FE – New Mexico health officials announced today a fifth New Mexico resident tested presumptive positive for COVID-19, adding to the four presumptive positive tests Wednesday.

New Mexico Tax Department Files Appeal On Medical Cannabis To State Supreme Court

ALBUQUERQUE – The New Mexico Tax and Revenue Department appealed a Jan. 28, Court of Appeals decision that would have allowed medical cannabis to receive a deduction from New Mexico Gross Receipts Tax (NMGRT) as a prescription drug.

Currently, sales tax on medical cannabis in New Mexico averages about 8 percent and approximately $10.5 million was remitted in 2019 by the 34 licensed cannabis producers.
