Step Up Gallery Issues Call For Art: Ode To The Mother Road

Step Up Gallery managers are planning a new exhibit honoring the 100th anniversary of the construction of Route 66 that eventually joined Chicago and southern California.

The art may be depictions of the existing remnants of the historic route, painted on site in plein air. Or the art may honor what once was, inspired by historic photographs or an artist’s informed imagination. The mediums employed may include painting with oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache or pastels. Los Alamos Photographer’s Show In Step Up Gallery

STEP UP GALLERY News:

The Los Alamos Photo Club is celebrating its 30th annual show in Step Up Gallery at Mesa Public Library. Los Alamos Photo Club members exhibit their photographic work completed in the last year and invite regional photographers to show their photographs as well. The exhibit runs from April 3 to May 6.

This year, they will also celebrate the life of the late Hal Davis, a long-time member of the Los Alamos Photo Club, with a special display of his photographs.

Four Stops, One Iconic Road: Route 66 Exhibit Brings History To Life In New Mexico Starting April 25

ALBUQUERQUE — In celebration of both the 100th anniversary of Route 66 and America’s 250th birthday, the “Route 66 Centennial Traveling Exhibit” (“Exhibit”) will bring the history, stories and images of the Mother Road to life across New Mexico.

The free Exhibit features nearly two dozen large-scale interpretive panels, audiovisual mini-documentaries, and educational components highlighting the diverse stories of New Mexicans connected by Route 66.
