St. John’s College Graduate Institute Summer Lecture Series Begins June 24 With ‘George Eliot’s Beautiful Atheistic Religiousness’ By Richard McCombs

SANTA FE — The St. John’s College Graduate Institute has announced its summer lecture series. On Wednesdays throughout the summer, the college offers presentations by members of the faculty and visiting scholars from notable universities across the country.
Lectures will be held in person on the college’s campuses in Santa Fe and Annapolis, Md. They are free and open to the public; seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Each lecture will also be posted on the college’s YouTube channel.

Route 66, also known as the Mother Road, is 100 years old this year! Step Up Gallery at Mesa Public Library invited regional artists to create art to celebrate the centennial.
Artists responded to the call with over 60 art pieces. The art on display will include plein air paintings of scenes along what is now known as Historic Route 66, studio paintings imagining the past, and fabric quilts designed to honor the Mother Road.
The public is invited to attend the opening reception from 2–3:30 p.m., Saturday, June 20. This celebratory exhibit will run through July 23.

Zeke Wilmot was the best predictor in the weekly pace race held in the Quemazon Complex. He was 14 seconds off his predicted time. Other accurate predictors were 7-month-old Liliana Smeltzer with a 15 second difference; 7-year-old Ximena Stanier recording 36 seconds off; Lynn Bjorklund having a 46 second differential; and Sana Sevanto had a 48 second difference as well as the best female finisher in the 3-mile distance at 36:42.
On the 1-mile course Eric Davis was first at 9:30 and the best female was 3-year-old Iris Geimer recording a 12:22.
