Local Woman Reports Man Tied Her Up Near College

Los Alamos police charged a Los Alamos woman overnight with making false claims and they have issued her a summons to appear in court.

Genevieve M. Salas, 20, told police that a tall Hispanic man in a dark hoodie jumped out of nowhere and threw her over his shoulder as she approached her car in the UNM-LA parking lot around 9:10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30.

Los Alamos County is continuing its market research to assess demand and interest in broadband services, as well as explore preferences regarding methods of financing the Community Broadband Network (CBN) project and willingness to pay for the various costs to install and operate the network.

CBN is a “last-mile” fiber network that will provide open and advanced broadband communications access to all County residents, businesses and institutions.

I read the other day that there is a serious shortfall in county receipts, and that now county management is scrambling to cut expenditures in order to avoid a serious deficit situation.

Personally, I cannot understand how this could happen, except that when you look around at all the projects going on now and over the past few years, it’s pretty clear that the county has been spending as though ever-increasing receipts would continue forever.

Members of the canvassing board this morning at the Los Alamos County Clerk’s Office reviewed vote tabulations from Tuesday’s School Bond Election before signing documents to render the final count – 4,283 For and 1,784 Against as official.
