Site of Special School Board Meeting Changed

The site of the Special School Board Meeting to discuss vandalism has been changed. The meeting will take place at 5 p.m. Weds., Jan. 30 at the LAPS Administration Office at 2075 Trinity Dr. Suite V in Los Alamos. The meeting is in response to the recent vandalism at Pinon School.

On Saturday evening, Jan. 25, Pinon Elementary School was “tagged” by vandals. The graffiti consisted of a number of vulgar and inappropriate words and phrases.

Los Alamos Police Blotter: Jan. 17 to Jan. 23, 2013

The following information is provided by the Los Alamos Police Department.

Neither arrests nor charges indicate a conviction, and neither means that a person is guilty of the charges filed against them.

Jan. 17 at 10:16 a.m. / A 68-year-old Los Alamos man reported that he was the victim of larceny in the 2800 block of Villa Street. The estimated loss is more than $20,000. The matter is under investigation.

Calling Creative Young Artists for Dog Jog Logo Contest

Tails are wagging all over Los Alamos in anticipation of the 2013 Los Alamos Dog Jog, to be held on the morning of Saturday, April 27. 

The Dog Jog is a fundraiser for the Friends of the Shelter, who provide medical services and needed items for animals housed at the Los Alamos County Animal Shelter.

The Dog Jog Committee is calling on all creative young artists to put your imaginations and love of dogs to work by submitting a drawing for the 2013 Dog Jog Logo Contest!

The Logo Contest is open to youngsters in grades 3 through 6 whose families live or work in Los Alamos County.

Chihuahua Escapes Animal Shelter Overnight

Lost Dog Alert: A dog in the Los Alamos County Animal Shelter got out of a gate at about 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24 and ran away.

There is no photo of the dog but he is described as a tan chihuahua mix, about 12 pounds, not neutered.

His name is Skipper but he may be frightened of strangers, especially if he thinks they will grab him or pick him up.

Sioux Street Loses Power

DPU News:

A bad transformer was the cause of last night’s outage on Sioux Street in the North Mesa neighborhood. Reported at 6:30 p.m., approximately 120 Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities’ customers were without electricity.

DPU’s electric line crew initiated temporary repairs by back feeding electricity to restore power by 9 p.m.; permanent repairs will continue today, Jan. 24.
