Community Invited To Tabletop Game Day At Mesa Library

COUNTY News:

The next Tabletop Game Day is 1-4:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 10 at Mesa Public Library.

All ages are welcome to bring their board games or choose from the more than 125+ board games the library owns. Members of the library staff and volunteers will be hanging out hoping to play games with people at Mesa Public Library mostly in The Zone on the lower level.

Free popcorn and drinks will be available in The Zone area.

New Cell Phone Tower Erected In Totavi

The San Ildefonso Pueblo is erecting and will operate this new cell tower that has appeared recently in Totavi. This is part of Los Alamos County’s major Community Broadband Network (CBN) project. Construction on the County-owned, open-access fiber system is planned to start this summer. Key to this project is an 11-mile ‘middle mile’ fiber link with San Ildefonso Pueblo, providing critical redundancy off the hill. The community is invited to attend a meet and greet with newly appointed Los Alamos County Fire Chief Erik Litzenberg, 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026, at Fuller Lodge, 2132 Central Ave.

The Los Alamos County Council unanimously affirmed the appointment of Litzenberg as the new fire chief during its regular session on Dec. 16, 2025, following a nationwide search that began in fall 2025. The Art in Public Places (APP) Board is seeking community members committed to enhancing public spaces to help shape the artistic landscape of Los Alamos County.

Three board positions are coming open.

This offers a unique opportunity for new board members to influence how art enhances public spaces and enriches this community.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) website, the best way to avoid hypothermia and frostbite is to stay warm and dry indoors and outdoors.

If you must go outside, dress for safety; wear several layers of loose-fitting, lightweight, warm clothing. Trapped air between the layers will insulate you.
