Step Up Gallery Encourages Los Alamos County Employees To Submit Art For 2025 Showcase

STEP UP GALLERY News:

The 2nd biennial Los Alamos County Employee Art Showcase will run Dec. 4 to Jan. 7, 2026 in Step Up Gallery at Mesa Public Library.

This year, retired Los Alamos County employees as well as current employees are invited to submit art they create, including photography.

The official “Call for Art (CFA)” for this exhibit is available to download now at: https://stepupgallery.org/call-for-art/. The application is due by Nov. 10. Section Of Cañada Del Buey Trail To Temporarily Close For Wildfire Mitigation Beginning Oct. 14

COUNTY News:

For public safety and in coordination with the Los Alamos County Manager’s Office, the Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) will temporarily close a section of the Cañada del Buey Trail beginning Tuesday, Oct. 14, for the final phase of its wildfire fuels reduction project.

This marks the third and final phase of LAFD’s ongoing mitigation efforts aimed at reducing fire risk, protecting nearby neighborhoods, and preserving natural landscapes.

Crews will thin 5 to 9 acres to remove ladder fuels and create a strategic fuel break. Work is expected to last about one week, through Oct. Read More

UPDATE: Road is cleared and traffic is moving smoothly. The Los Alamos Police Department has closed one lane on the Main Hill  Road this morning for an undisclosed amount of time due to a rockslide. Officers are allowing commuters to use one lane and directing traffic around the rockslide located near Anderson Lookout. Commuters are encouraged to seek an alternate route and to expect delays. County Proclaims October Arts & Humanities Month

The Los Alamos County Council proclaimed October as Arts and Humanities Month in Los Alamos County at the Sept. 30 Council meeting. Representatives from local arts and cultural organizations, including members of the Los Alamos Arts Council, Los Alamos MainStreet and Creative District, Step Up Gallery, Samizdat Bookstore and Teahouse, Village Arts, Los Alamos Community Foundation, and Los Alamos Little Theater, joined the celebration.
