When the chill of winter hurts my bones and snow makes its appearance, I find myself seeking comfort in a bowl of lentil soup. The unusual volume of snow this year has brought this soup to mind more in the last few weeks than all the past five winters combined.

The time has come for the annual fundraising efforts of the United Church of Los Alamos, as they prepare to build homes for the poor during spring break in Puerto Penasco, Mexico.

Saint Job Orthodox Church will host its 20th Annual Blini Breakfast Saturday, March 9.

Blini, a type of thin pancake, will be served in traditional style with smoked salmon, herring, butter and sour cream. Vegetable caviar, eggs, cheese and a variety of berry preserves will be available as well.
