Sumo Robots Rumble at the Hive Saturday

The Hive is holding its first ever Mini-Sumo Robot Rumble starting at noon Saturday, July 13 and continuing until there is a winner.  The public is invited to visit the Hive and watch the competition. The Hive is at 134 N.M. 4, in White Rock just east of Metzger's Do it Best Hardware. 

Mini-Sumo Robots are electronic gadgets that are fun to build and program without extensive technical knowledge. PEEC Captures Bear On Camera!

Critter Cam at PEEC: We got the bear! It looks like (s)he has visited almost every night in the past four days. To recap, our bee hive was trashed around July 6. The bear first walked in front of our critter camera at 1 a.m. July 8, then it snapped photos at 2 a.m. 3 a.m.and 11 p.m. July 9. The last sighting was around 4 a.m. July 10. TODAY: Udall to Speak on the Floor About Keeping Student Loans Affordable

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Sen. Tom Udall of New Mexico will deliver remarks on the Senate floor about the need to find a comprehensive solution to keep loans affordable for college students in New Mexico and across the country.
 
The Senate is voting today on the Keep Student Loans Affordable Act of 2013. On July 1, because of Senate inaction, a temporary measure to keep interest rates low expired. As a result, the interest rates on new federal Stafford loans doubled from 3.4 percent to 6.8 percent.

The Los Alamos Kiwanis Club presented Dallin Parker with an educational scholarship recently. Parker will attend Brigham Young University in Utah to study nursing.
