Mountain To Celebrate 75 Years With Afternoon Tea

Mountain News:

Mountain Elementary School will host an afternoon tea,1-4 p.m. Saturday, March 7, in the gymnasium at Mountain, to celebrate 75 years.

There will be finger foods, music, and school tours for alumni. There will be live music. Current students must be accompanied by a family member.

SANTA FE — New Mexico closed its 2026 legislative session with unanimous, bipartisan passage of two landmark education bills and strong support for a third, codifying the instructional practices behind the state’s largest reading gains and establishing a new statutory framework for math instruction and special education services.

Senate Bills 29, 37 and 64 passed with strong bipartisan support, including unanimous approval of SB 29 and SB 37 in both chambers. Together, these measures modernize and strengthen the state’s framework for literacy, mathematics and special education. Read More

When was the last time you read a really great book, just for fun, and found that it changed your way of seeing the world or fundamentally expanded your perception of mankind or the human experience?

This question is a call out to all high school Seniors in Los Alamos County. Each year, via this question, the Friends of Los Alamos County Libraries (FLACL) partners with Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation to award up to five scholarships to college/university-bound high school seniors, for a total sum of $13,500. The Los Alamos Public Schools celebrate student art month and the New Mexico Year of Arts in Education with a colorful display of hundreds of artworks made by students from Pre-K through high school seniors. Step Up Gallery at Mesa Public Library hosts this annual show, which opened today.
