ALAMOGORDO — The New Mexico Museum of Space History welcomes three new staff members: Olga Valanos, Brigette Smith, and Levi Heisinger. Valanos is the Public Relations and Marketing Director, Smith is the Front Desk Customer Service representative, and Heisinger joins as an Education Coordinator and Planetarium Projectionist.

STEP UP GALLERY News:

The 2nd biennial Los Alamos County Employee Art Showcase will run Dec. 4 to Jan. 7, 2026, in Step Up Gallery at Mesa Public Library.

This year, retired Los Alamos County employees are invited, as well as current employees, to submit art they create, including photography.

New Mexico Unemployment Rate Steady At 4.2% In June

New Mexico’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.2 percent in June, unchanged from the rate in May and unchanged from the rate in the previous year.

The national unemployment rate in June was 4.1 percent, down from 4.2 percent in May and unchanged from the rate in June 2024.

Total nonagricultural payroll employment grew by 23,500 jobs, or 2.7 percent, between June 2024 and June 2025. The majority of gains came from the private sector. SANTA FE —The Albuquerque Journal has announced that the New Mexico State Land Office has won a Top Workplaces award, ranking 3rd among midsize organizations (with between 150-499 employees).
