Music Group Manic Drive Plays Los Alamos March 5

Pop/rock band Manic Drive, touring from Canada via Wisconsin, Texas and on to California, will be in Los Alamos March 5. Listen to KRSN for an artist interview next week.
 
Local organizer, Infinity Squared Music (Phil Jacobson), continues to bring internationally acclaimed talent to Northern New Mexico – more than three years running now. A pre-show tailgate party will start at 4 p.m., with doors opening 6:30 p.m., at White Rock Baptist Church. Show starts promptly at 7 p.m. All ages welcome.

Coro de Cámara’s energetic concert, “New York Nuance,” features music by notable New York composers Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, Duke Ellington, and Thomas “Fats” Waller. Excerpts from West Side Story are the centerpiece of the program, along with other well-known works, such as “Make Our Garden Grow” from Bernstein’s Candide, “The Promise of Living” from Copland’s The Tender Land, “It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing)” by Ellington, and several selections from Ain’t Misbehavin’ by Waller.

“45 Years” is a quietly emotional film about British couple living near Norfolk, England, about to celebrate their 45th anniversary. Shocking news comes in the mail a week before the party, forcing a revelation about a central piece of personal history not previously shared.

The film is based on the short story, “In Another Country” by David Constantine, and adapted for the screen by the Director, Andrew Haigh (Gladiator).

Students Present ‘Merry Wives Of Windsor’

THEATRE News:

SQUID Inc. presents Merry Wives of Windsor, by William Shakespeare. Fifteen students from the New Mexico School for the Arts come together to bring this rarely performed Shakespeare script to the stage.

The company will stage Merry Wives in an adaptation of the traditional thrust stage style, including keeping the house lights on during the show, and the actors producing all sound effects from off stage.
