Hiking up Pikes Peak, the highest summit of the southern Front Range of the Rockies, is an epic accomplishment, as it involves a long, hard, 13.5-mile climb uphill with a gain of about 7,400+ feet in elevation. The community is invited to join in this year’s Homecoming as Los Alamos High School will “Unplug the Chargers!” when they play against the Albuquerque Academy Chargers in the Football game Friday night, Sept. 22. Homecoming Week is Sept. 18-23.

SANTA FE — Time for the harvest! Every year in late September, Los Luceros Historic Site (LLHS) invites the public to Fall Harvest Festival, a day of apple picking, local food and performances, community building, festivities, and education. The festival will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sept. 24. 

Visitors might think of these activities as nostalgic, but for LLHS and communities throughout the surrounding region, the harvest remains one of the most important times of year.
