Dances Of India Presents ‘The Little Indian Mermaid’ Oct. 5

COMMUNITY News:

The community is invited to attend the 2025 Dances of India’s production, “The Little Indian Mermaid”, at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5 at Duane Smith Auditorium.

The show will feature students of The Family YMCA Kathak program, and guest dancers and actors from the Los Alamos community.

No tickets are required, but donations are welcome. This year, all proceeds from the show will go to the Y Latin America’s program for youth mental health, ELEVA!

Indian snacks will be available for sale during intermission.

Open Views: When visiting the Flaming Gorge area, traveling from south to north, one would be on Utah Highway 44 to drive the Sheep Creek Geological Area. This view was taken a short distance into the 13-mile loop that traverses through high meadows and open spaces surrounded by mountains. September Update For Los Alamos Golf Course

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County staff evaluated the course Sept. 4 for any problem areas and assessed its overall status for additional play.

Staff has confirmed that the front nine is holding up well and will be making a slight adjustment to the schedule. 

Based on the golf course project management team’s evaluation of the golf course, the Los Alamos County Golf Course has announced a new schedule.

Beginning Sept. 24:

  • An additional day for play – The golf course will open at 3 p.m. on Wednesdays, and all day Thursdays through Sundays.

Bandelier To Host Wilderness Project Day Saturday Sept. 27

Bandelier will be celebrating National Public Lands Day with special events and a fee free day on Saturday, Sept. 27.

In honor of National Public Lands Day and recognizing September as National Wilderness Month, the park will be hosting a Wilderness Project Day on Saturday, Sept. 27. The park is looking for up to 20 volunteers who would like to participate in a special project. Volunteers will work alongside park rangers and will spend the day building Beaver Dam Analogs (BDAs) in Frijoles Canyon. Cowboy Breakfast At Sheriff’s Posse Lodge Sunday Sept. 7

Sheriff’s Posse News:

The Los Alamos County Sheriff’s Posse is hosting its monthly Cowboy Breakfast this Sunday, Sept. 7.

The breakfast is served 7-11 a.m. at the Sheriff’s Posse Lodge at 650 North Mesa Road, near the North Mesa Stables.

The all-you-can-eat breakfast includes:

  • Pancakes – Banana, Blueberry, Chocolate Chip and Plain;
  • Scrambled Eggs;
  • Sausage;
  • Bacon; and
  • Coffee, Tea and Orange Juice.

The price for adults is $10, children 4-10 years of age $5 and those 0-3 are free.

Proceeds this month go to benefit the Los Alamos Sheriff’s Posse, a 501(c)(3) non-profit.
