This December, the Wonders on Wheels Mobile Museum, a division of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs, is touring the exhibit, “Eight Sites, One History: Explore the Past at New Mexico Historic Sites” to a variety of holiday events throughout northern New Mexico.

SANTA FE — New Mexico History Museum and the Fray Angélico Chávez History Library have selected Justin Riner as the 2025 recipient of the Steve Wimmer Historical Research Fund. Riner will study the connections between Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt and the history, conservation, and promotion of New Mexico between 1899-1916.

SANTA FE — The School for Advanced Research (SAR) announces that The Dawn of Everything: A New History of Humanity by David Graeber and David Wengrow has been awarded the 2025 J. I. Staley Prize, recognizing exceptional scholarship and writing that expand the boundaries of anthropological thought.

NMDCA Seeks $49.7M Budget, Including 4.1% Increase For Museums And Historic Sites

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs on Thursday will ask state lawmakers to approve $49.7 million for its general fund in the upcoming 30-day legislative session, representing a 4.1% increase from current year funding.

The department will present its budget before the Legislative Finance Committee at 8:30 a.m., Nov. 20 at the State Capitol, Room 307.
