Los Alamos Helps ‘Impossible Foods’ Save Environment

When Pat Brown founded his company Impossible Foods in 2011, he set a high-level objective: to eradicate the consumption of meat from animals by 2035.

Turns out several businesses in Los Alamos are helping Brown achieve this goal. During a virtual presentation Tuesday night, which was part of ScienceFest, Brown revealed several local restaurants including Sirphey, Pajarito Brew Pub and Cottonwood on the Greens serve dishes with Impossible Burger and Impossible Sausage.

The Los Alamos Farmers Market is open 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today and every Thursday through October at Ashley Pond Park.

There also is a Saturday market 8 a.m. to noon at the Justice Center parking lot that runs through September.

Traffic Alert: Flagging Operations Near DP Road And Trinity

Traffic Alert:

One way flagging operations are underway near the intersection of DP Road and N.M. 502 (Trinity Drive) because of fire hydrant work in the roadway.

The work for the hydrant is related to construction of the new Canyon Walk Apartments.

Because this is a congested work zone adjacent to the NMDOT project for the roundabout construction, traffic should expect delays and use caution.

New Mexico State Police Arrest 23 Drunk Drivers Statewide During Independence Day CARE Operation

During last weekend’s Independence Day holiday, the New Mexico State Police participated in the Combined Accident Reduction Effort (CARE) operation across all roadways within the state.

The goal of the traffic initiative is that a strong law enforcement presence will have a direct effect on the driving behaviors of motorists during the holiday, and thus, reduce the number of crashes and increase motorist safety.

Construction continues today on the Natural Grocers store under development on a portion of the former Los Alamos Shriner’s Club property at 1459 Trinity Dr. At its Feb. 27, 2019 meeting, the Planning & Zoning Commission approved a lot split and site plan to pave the way for the Natural Grocers store.
