The much admired Dover Quartet will perform in the Smith Auditorium in Los Alamos at 7 p.m. Friday, March 11 as part of the Los Alamos Concert Association’s 70th Anniversary Season.

 

Since a triumphant sweep at the prestigious Banff International String Quartet Competition in 2013, the Dover has won acclaim world-wide. The New Yorker dubbed them “the young American string quartet of the moment.” James Keller of the Santa Fe New Mexican described the young ensemble as “string quartet Nirvana.”  Read More

The best way to be successful is practice, practice, practice and Los Alamos High School Choir Director Jason Rutledge and his bevy of beautiful voices will perform for the community Tuesday, March 1, as they prepare for additional great things ahead.

“This concert is our preview concert for our Music Performance Assessment that occurs the following day,” Rutledge said. “It will involve the Los Alamos Middle School Choir and four choirs from Los Alamos High School; Man Time, Harmony, Bel Canto and Schola Cantorum.”

Presley Gao, 13, won The Music Guild of New Mexico’s Jackie McGehee Young Artists’ Competition Feb. 13 at the Keller Hall at UNM.

Gao played the first movement of the Schumann Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 54, accompanied by his teacher, Steinway Artist Jacquelyn Helin, on the second piano.
