Jan McDonald Plays for LAHS Marching Band Fundraising Dinner

BAND BOOSTER News:

Nationally recognized trumpeter Jan McDonald will join Los Alamos High School Marching Band Boosters for a fundraiser Italian dinner Wednesday, Nov. 7 at Trinity on the Hill Church’s Kelly Hall.

The fundraiser will benefit the LAHS Marching Band.

“Jan McDonald continues to support the Topper Band, which he directed for almost 30 years,” event organizer Karen Mehlin said. “We are so excited that he will play for this event.”

The Los Alamos Arts Council’s Brown Bag Performances are always free, always entertaining, take a lunch break at the Brown Bag Performance series in Fuller Lodge.

Presenting a wide range of programs, from Beethoven to ballet, opera to jazz, chamber music to bagpipes, these concerts have been entertaining Los Alamos music lovers on their midday breaks since 1973.

The Los Alamos Community Winds will open their concert season with “A World of Music” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 at White Rock Baptist Church.

“This is a typical Winds concert in that we are performing a variety of music,” Winds Artistic Director Ted Vives said. “We started looking at people’s suggestions for music and I saw that there was a wide variety of locations around the world represented. The theme grew out of that realization.”
