By ANN HAYES
Breakfast With Santa Chairperson

The Kiwanis Club of Los Alamos wishes to thank all those who helped to make our recent Breakfast with Santa successful.

Special thanks go to Del Norte Credit Union for their continued generous support of this event.

To the hundreds of attendees who came to see Santa and donate food to LA Cares and money for the Foster Children program, thank you for reminding us that the Christmas spirit is alive and well in Los Alamos.

And lastly, without the help of the Key Club, Builders Club and Kiwanians who work tirelessly throughout the morning, we would not be able Read More

Letter to the Editor: Plateau Property Mgmt Says Thank You Community!

By MIKE LIPPIATT
Property Manager

I would like to thank everyone for helping to make Plateau Property Management’s grand opening such a wonderful event.

There were a lot of people who helped put this event together and a lot of work has gone into the renovation of our new apartments. The PPM team has really come together on all counts to bring us to this day and has laid a wonderful foundation to enable us to move forward in a positive and successful manner.

Mike McNiel, our construction and maintenance manager, has put together an awesome crew. This crew renovates apartments, cleans grounds, manicures Read More

The Los Alamos Little Theatre is very pleased to announce that one day and one very generous patron was all it took to raise the final money for the purchase and installation of an assisted listening system for the Performing Arts Center at 1670 Nectar St.

All contributions received will go toward improving the listening experience for LALT productions and special performances.

We want to give a special thanks to the Los Alamos National Bank for jump-starting our fundraising effort through its community reinvestment program. We hope to have the system Read More

Letter to the Editor: Public Servants Deserve Thanks For Smooth Recount

By MARY WILHOIT
Los Alamos

A big thank you to the Secretary of State’s staff and the Los Alamos County Clerk and her staff for all the many hours and hard work that went on behind the scenes in accomplishing the first ever in New Mexico statewide recount.

I’m sure much the same thing went on in clerk’s offices across the state. Those of us who did the recount in Los Alamos saw how hard Sharon Stover, Adrianna Ortiz, Gloria Maestas, Ona Trujillo and Jocelyn Warner had worked in preparing for the recount to go smoothly.

Thank you for making a tedious and time-consuming job as painless as possible. It was a Read More

Letter to the Editor: ‘A Place To Fulfill Your Vision’

By EDWARD BIRNBAUM
Los Alamos

I was pleased to see Council back away from the marketing tagline “Living Exponentially”. If a phrase has little or no meaning to the community it is supposed to define, one can hardly expect it to mean much to those outside the community, which is of course key to any marketing campaign. Unfortunately, we now face the difficult task of creating a new tagline, which is a better fit.

I believe we need to focus on the two features that most clearly define Los Alamos. The first of these, the physical beauty and availability of the surrounding environment Read More

Letter to the Editor: Response To Complaints Issued Against LAHS Head Wrestling Coach

By PATRICK And SHANNON TRUJILLO
Los Alamos

Our family was greatly disheartened and disappointed this evening when logging on to the Los Alamos Daily Post. We look to this resource for reliable, objective reporting from staff, only to find subjective, second-hand information reported. The “staff report” on complaints against LAHS head wrestling coach, Bob Geyer, were in our opinion, irresponsible reporting by the Daily Post, printed only to put in question Coach Geyer’s reputation. We believe it was poor judgment to take calls from disgruntled parents and print this information as a “staff Read More

Letter to the Editor: Los Alamos Tagline Suggestions

By LYNNE CASSON
Retired Editor From LANL

I have the following suggestions for a tag line for Los Alamos.

How about  “Los Alamos — Discover the Secret”  or “Los Alamos – Discover Its Secrets”   or “Los Alamos – Discover Its Secrets for Yourself”  or or “Los Alamos — Yours to Discover” or “Los Alamos — Yours for the Discovering”?

Regarding “Where Discoveries are Made” — the phrase is in the passive voice, making it a little bit ho hum. To up the interest/excitement, Read More

Letter to the Editor: New Tagline Should Reflect Community

By LINDA GOFORTH
Los Alamos

Los Alamos has not lost its identity, and besides the “Where Discoveries are Made” any tagging should be kept to the reality with clarity.

We are still about people, science, education, art, and nature.

This has been the gist since there was a Boys’ School, not only the looming laboratory. Simply a complete community is what we are, growing and discovering. Read More
