County Addresses Vandalism At Rover & North Mesa Parks

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Parks Division reports several incidents of vandalism over the past two weeks at two county parks.

Damages include clogging urinals and toilets with mud and debris in the restroom facilities at the Rover and North Mesa parks.

The Parks Division takes these incidents seriously as it inconveniences both park-goers and taxpayers alike.

ALBUQUERQUE As part of its proactive operations, the New Mexico State Police (NMSP) partnered with the 2nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office in the recovery of two stolen vehicles and three firearms.

Oct. 3, 2023, NMSP, in collaboration with the 2nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office, conducted proactive operations resulting in the recovery of two stolen vehicles, and three firearms, one being stolen, in Albuquerque.

FBI: Shiprock Man Charged With Assault With A Dangerous Weapon Against A Minor

Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Albuquerque Field Office, announced that Darron Smith appeared in federal court on an indictment charging him with assault with a dangerous weapon against a minor and assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

New Mexico State Police Investigate Gunshot Damage To CYFD Building Wednesday In Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE — The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) were called to the Children Youth & Families Department (CYFD) building at around 9 a.m. Oct. 4, at 4501 Indian School Road NE for reported damage to the building.

Officers learned that when employees arrived that morning, they found one of the windows broken. Officers located a defect in the stucco ledge near the window and determined a bullet had struck the ledge and ricocheted into the window damaging the window and a set of blinds in the window.

FBI: Albuquerque Man Wanted On Federal Firearms Charges

The FBI is now offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Leonard John Lucero of Albuquerque, who is wanted for allegedly being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition.

In early January 2023, members of the FBI Violent Gang Task Force in Albuquerque executed search warrants on Lucero’s residence and four storage units rented by him.
