New Mexico State Police Charge 24-Year-Old With Attempted Murder For Shooting Protester Near Juan De Oñate Statue

ESPAÑOLA – On Thursday, Sept. 28, the New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Investigations Bureau was called to investigate a shooting at 1122 Industrial Park in Española. 

NMSP Investigations Bureau agents learned that at around 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 28, a protest was happening between individuals over the Juan De Oñate Statue.

ALBUQUERQUE — As part of its proactive operations, the New Mexico State Police (NMSP) assisted the New Mexico Corrections Department Security Threat Intelligence Unit (STIU) with Probation and Parole in apprehending a wanted criminal.

NM State Police Arrest Violent Absconder In Española

Española – On Sept. 25, 2023, a New Mexico State Police (NMSP) officer on patrol on Riverside Drive in Española saw a man walking near the Cooks Trailer Park. Through past encounters, the officer recognized the individual as Robert Angel Martinez, 34, of Española.

Martinez was known to have an active probation violation warrant.
