New Mexico State Police Investigate Fatal El Rito ATV Crash

NMSP News:

RIO ARRIBA COUNTY — The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) investigated a fatal ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) crash June 3, on State Road 110 and Forrest Road 559, near the El Rito Campgrounds.

The initial investigation indicated that Darrick Ocana, 35, of El Rito was operating a 2020 Can-Am side-by-side ATV near the El Rito Campgrounds. For unknown reasons, the ATV rolled. Ocana was ejected from the ATV and suffered fatal injuries.

He was pronounced deceased by the Office of the Medical Investigator on the scene.

State Police will be conducting sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols; and registration, insurance, and driver’s license checkpoints in all New Mexico counties during June 2023.

FBI: Navajo Man Charged With Assault, Firearms Offenses

ALBUQUERQUE — Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, announced Thursday that Tyrell Willie was ordered detained after he appeared at a preliminary and detention hearing before a U.S. Magistrate Judge on a criminal complaint charging him with assault with a dangerous weapon, assault resulting in serious bodily injury, and the use of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.

New Mexico State Police Participate In Memorial Day C.A.R.E. Operation

During the Memorial Day holiday, the New Mexico State Police (NMSP)  participated in the Combined Accident Reduction Effort (C.A.R.E.) operation across all roadways within the state. Update: All Lanes Now Open On Truck Route.

LAPD News:

The Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) reports that all lanes are now open on the Truck Route following the shutdown that occurred this morning.

The cause of the shutdown was a dump truck that overturned at the bottom of the Truck Route (East Jemez) at mile marker # 9.

One person was transported for injuries.

There was also a diesel spill that LANL Hazmat had to clean up.

FBI: Grand Jury Returns Indictment Against Zuni Man For Aggravated Sexual Abuse Against Children In Indian Country

ALBUQUERQUE — Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, has announced that a federal grand jury in the District of New Mexico returned an indictment charging Rodney Waikaniwa with multiple counts of aggravated sexual abuse against two victims in Indian Country.

Waikaniwa, 51, and an enrolled member of the Zuni Pueblo, will remain in custody pending trial, which has not been scheduled.
