Department Of Game & Fish Special Hunt Auction, Enhancement Raffle End Soon

NMDGF News:

The New Mexico Department of Wildlife is auctioning nine premium hunting opportunities to raise funds for wildlife conservation programs.

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has authorized the auction pursuant to 2007 legislation. The Department has partnered with Ducks Unlimited to offer the New Mexico Governor’s Special Hunt Auction online in 2026. Funds from the public auction support the state’s Game Protection Fund and are used solely for projects and programs directly related to the Department’s mission.

The June 23 Mountaineers meeting will feature a talk by Reid Priedhorsky entitled “How to win 37 pieces of flair via helicopter evacuation from the canyon country, or, perhaps: How not to.”

Join East Park Pool for Splash And Dash every other Wednesday from 7–9 p.m. This timed swim/run event is open to everyone. You do not need to be an East Park Pool member to participate. Entry is $5 per participant. Register at https://eastparkpool.org/splash-and-dash.

The State Game and Fish Department stocked a total of 18,839 rainbow trout weighing 9,089 pounds. Most of the stocking will now be in Northern New Mexico. 

The Fourth of July holiday is coming up next week. Popular fishing destinations will be crowded.

U.S. Forest Service To Propose First National Policy For Recreational Climbing On Public Lands 

USFS News:

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) will publish a proposed climbing directive in the Federal Register and initiate a 30-day public comment period.

This proposal establishes the agency’s first national direction for managing recreational climbing opportunities on national forests and grasslands that will include guidance for the use and maintenance of fixed anchors and equipment.
