Musician Jim Scott To Perform At Unitarian Church Aug. 4

Join Jim Scott, popular singer/guitarist/composer, as he shares his new music and multimedia experience called “The Year to Save the Earth.”

This program, which Scott is presenting around the country and soon in Los Alamos, mixes powerful songs with beautiful projected images of the planet.

Scripture-based, active, fun and LUNCH: Compassion Camp at The United Church at 2525 Canyon Road is for everyone. The camp is held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., every Sunday in August.

Unitarians Welcome New Ministry With Service, Potluck And Concert

On Sunday Aug. 4, the Unitarian Church of Los Alamos will welcome Rev. Tina DeYoe as its  new Minister Pro Tem, and Terra Hite as Director of Lifespan Religious Education (DLRE).

The service will be led by well-known composer, performer, poet and activist Jim Scott. A potluck will follow, open to the congregation, friends, and any interested visitors, where one can meet and talk with all three.

At 7 p.m. that evening, Scott will offer a concert featuring his new musical and multimedia presentation, “The Year to Save the Earth” along with other songs he has written.

The TGIF concert this week features “Participants’ Recital for the Santa Fe Summer Organ Academy”  Aug. 2 at First Presbyterian Church, 208 Grant Ave. in Santa Fe.

The community is invited to ejoy the music of these talented organists. The doors to the sanctuary open at 5:15 p.m. and the concert begins at 5:30 p.m. The concert is free with donations accepted.

Interfaith Coalition Collects Backpacks For Refugee Students

The Interfaith Coalition is running a campaign to collect backpacks for refugee students in Albuquerque. There are just a few more days to pitch in to this effort. This effort has been organized for five years by the volunteers who compose the Interfaith Coalition.

The students who need backpacks and school supplies are legally settled here by Lutheran Family Services, which has a contract with the US Government to settle and support these refugee families.
