Maddie Harms was the best predictor with a 7 second differential off her predicted time in the weekly pace race held on the trail across from the Laboratory “S” Site. She was also the first female finisher on the 3 mile trail course with a time of 35:07.

There will be a mandatory meeting, 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10 in the LAHS Speech Theater next to the Auxiliary Gym at LAHS for all parents and players in grades 7-12  interested in playing volleyball this year.

Despite a healthy snowpack and abundant precipitation in May the threat of wildfires exist in Northern New Mexico.

That threat is now a reality as a lightening-caused wildfire ignited in the Jemez Mountains Aug. 5 near Gallina. By Monday (Aug. 7) it had grown to 2000+ acres. No evacuations have been ordered, but residents of Mesa de Poleo near Gallina have been advised to be able to evacuate quickly if so ordered.

LAPS Foundation Announces Hilltopper 5K Run Aug. 19

The community is invited to join LAPS Foundation Saturday, Aug. 19 for the second annual Hilltopper 5K Run. 

The run is hosted by TCR Productions of Albuquerque, owned by Tom Rojas, a Los Alamos High School alum from the Class of 1972. Proceeds from the race will go to LAPS Foundation to benefit the schools.  The LAHS cross country team staffs the race.

FBI: Former High School Coach From Pecos Sentenced To 30 Years In Prison For Sextortion Scheme

ALBUQUERQUE – Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Albuquerque Field Office, announced that Joshua Rico was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Rico, 27, of Pecos, New Mexico, pleaded guilty on Dec. 22, 2022, to five counts of coercion and enticement of minors.
