Hilltoppers Invite Community To Show Support For Homecoming 2015 Activities

HILLTOPPER News:

The Los Alamos High School Hilltoppers invite the community to come show their support for Homecoming 2015.

The homecoming parade kicks off at 2:30 p.m., Friday down Central Avenue. Prizes of $100, $50 and $25 are on the line for parade entries, who will be judged in the following areas; theme representation: 25 points, originality 25 points, school spirit: 25 points and audience appeal: 25 points.

Ted Romero was 12 seconds off his predicted time in the weekly pace race held out on San Ildefonso Road and Big Rock Loop on North Mesa. 
 
Other top predictors were Tamryn Jones with a 23 second differential, 8-year-old Jayson Jones at 24 seconds off, and Jackie Marr with a 27 second difference.

Time To Register For Annual Pajarito TrailFest

It’s time to sign up for the 9th annual Pajarito TrailFest, which is set for Sunday, Oct. 17.

LAHS Hall Of Fame Class Inducted This Weekend

HILLTOPPER News:

Homecoming Weekend 2015 is this weekend and includes a flurry of activities including recognition of Los Alamos High School athletes.

The LAHS Athletic Department is inducting its 2nd Hall of Fame Class. Inductees will attend the pep rally, and in the Homecoming Parade Friday and be introduced that evening at the football game.

A banquet in their honor is noon Saturday, Sept. 12 at LAHS. This event is open to the public. Tickets are available for $25 at the LAHS Athletic Office.

Los Alamos Golf Course Superintendent Matt Allen Earns Prestigious CGCS Credential

Los Alamos Golf Course Superintendent Matt Allen has earned the CGCS credential as a Certified Golf Course Superintendent by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.

To achieve this certification designation, superintendents must qualify as an applicant by satisfying specific education and experience requirements. They must then successfully complete a portfolio, plus a rigorous six hour examination and submit to a peer evaluation of the golf course facility.

Los Alamos YMCA Fencing Classes Begin Tuesday

YMCA News:

The Fall/Winter session of the Los Alamos YMCA fencing classes will resume Tuesday, Sept. 8.

The Beginning and Advanced fencers will be combined into the Advanced group. Start time is 7 p.m. and class lasts for one hour.

Registration can be made at the YMCA front desk or on-line at www.LAYMCA.org. This schedule will continue through the end of January 2016.

In February, a new class for Beginning fencers will begin.

Hard Work Over Summer Paying Off For Hilltoppers

The girls soccer team won Thursday against Moriarty. The football team also won their opener Friday against the Pojoaque Elks 19-13.
