LAHS NJROTC Competes In Border Shootout

NJROTC News:

The LAHS NJROTC precision and sporter marksmanship teams, coached by LCDR Shumaker, travelled to Farmington to compete in the Border Shootout match.

The precision team, consisting of cadets Samantha Miller, Joanna O’Neill, Samuel Wolfe and David Murphy placed first out of 17 teams with Wolfe placing 4th individually. The precision team’s placing in this match qualified them for the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s 3 Position Air Rifle Regional Championship in April.

Los Alamos Aquatomics Shine At Home Meet

The Los Alamos Aquatomics hosted their Winter Open Meet this weekend at Larry R. Walkup Aquatic Center. The event saw 246 swimmers from teams as far away as Carlsbad. 

The Aquatomics had 52 participants, and posted some impressive swims.

Los Alamos Atomic Tumblers Compete In Xcel Meet

SPORTS News:

Los Alamos Atomic Tumblers traveled to Belen last weekend to compete in an Xcel meet. Anna Clark won the Platinum competition with a 36.00 all-around. Clark also took gold on bars with 9.10 and beam with 8.80.

Ramya Stevens took the bronze in the all-around with 35.60. Stevens tied Clark for the gold on bars also scoring a 9.10. Stevens also took the bronze on floor (9.30), vault (9.00) and beam (8.20). Suyana Ferreira took gold on vault with 9.20. Ferreira also took bronze on bars (8.90). Carley Stilwell took silver on floor (9.40) and on vault (9.20).

Inez Ross of Los Alamos is a self-described “wild and crazy 84-year-old retired teacher, writer, jogger, star gazer, tap dancer and ukulele player” who enjoys traveling to state and national senior games with fellow runner Carolyn Robinson of Santa Fe. Los Alamos High School swimmers and divers competed Jan. 16-17 at the 17th Annual Albuquerque Academy Invitational meet.

Registration Opens For Los Alamos Senior Olympics Games Feb. 1

SPORTS News:

The registration period is Feb. 1-28 for the Los Alamos Senior Olympics Games, which take place March 13 through April 13 in town.

Participants should be 50 years old or older to qualify. Local participants can qualify for the State Senior Olympics Games, which are June 3-6 in Roswell .

The Los Alamos Family YMCA will have registration forms available beginning Feb. 1. The fee is $ 20. T-shirts will be available.

All boys and girls ages 9 to 14 are invited to participate in the local level of competition for the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship.
