Los Alamos High School NJROTC marksmanship team members have made the top five precision list of Navy teams and qualified to compete at the All-Service JROTC National Championship air rifle competition March 20 at Camp Perry, Ohio.

NM Crush 14s Volleyball Team Takes Gold!

The NM Crush 14s volleyball team took gold in the annual Presidente Picante tournament hosted in Albuquerque over the Feb. 15-16 weekend. The NM Crush took 1st out of 28 teams from Texas, Colorado and New Mexico. The team is comprised of players from northern New Mexico and train primarily in the Pojoaque and Espanola area. Braving snowstorms and icy temperatures, four Belisama dancers traveled to Newark, N.J. to compete at the 2014 CRN North American Irish Dance Championships over President’s Day weekend.

Team Envy has had a stellar 2014 AYBL basketball season. The Albuquerque Youth Basketball League afforded Team Envy 14 regular season games, along with a season ending tournament.

The Los Alamos Squirt Hockey Team won their second tournament of the year Monday, defeating the Santa Clara Blackhawks 4-3 to capture the Squirt-C championship in Colorado Springs. The LA squirts went undefeated in six games, outscoring their opponents 30-7 over the course of the tournament.

Registration for the Valles Caldera Runs is Open!

SPORTS News:

Registration is open for the Valles Caldera Runs on ultrasignup.com. The runs are May 3 and include 10k, half marathon and marathon distance races on dirt roads and trails within the Valles Caldera National Preserve.

The runs start and finish at the Banco Bonita staging area, mile marker 30 on N.M. 4.

The marathon will start at 7:30 a.m. the half marathon at 8:30 a.m. and the 10k at 9 a.m. Aid stations are provided every two to three miles on each course. Entrants will receive a t-shirt. Awards will be pottery made by artists from the Jemez Pueblo.
