LAHS Basketball To Host Boys District First Round Game

Los Alamos High School (LAHS) will host a First Round District Boys Basketball game on Monday, Feb. 24 in Griffith Gymnasium. Start time is 6 p.m. and doors will open at 5:15 p.m.

The Toppers will take on the Moriarty Pintos.

For this district game, there will be no cash sales and all sales are through GoFan. Passes will not be accepted for this game. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance, but may purchase at the door with a credit or debit card. No cash sales. Ticket prices are $7 for Read More

Toppers Fall To The Taos Tigers 39-54

The Topper’s hosted the Taos Tigers in a conference game played in Griffith Gym Tuesday night. The Toppers came out strong and aggressive in the first quarter and led 15-13 and finished the half down 20-28. The Tigers took over the game for the second half wining 54-39. Hilltopper Swim & Dive Girls Are District Champs—Boys Hold On For Fourth

The Hilltopper Swim/Dive team wrapped up the regular season at the District Championships in Santa Fe. The team went with high expectations after a grueling January schedule: Five meets in five weeks. Unfortunately, a rash of illnesses kept many swimmers home.

The larger and deeper girl’s team was able to handle their missing swimmers to win the District title. For the boys, many key swimmers were missing, yet they still managed to place fourth thanks to several exceptional performances.

The snowpack in Northern New Mexico is 39-percent of normal. Last week saw some snow in the mountains and the snowpack increased. Locally  the snowpack at the Hopewell measuring station is 55-percent of normal with a snow depth of 24 inches. 

The snowpack in Southern Colorado, including the headwaters of the Rio Grande, is also below normal. Northern and Central Colorado received heavy snow last week, but the storm bypassed Southern Colorado. That has been the weather pattern for most of the winter.
