Los Alamos County’s Community Services Department is pondering this idea through a series of public listening sessions aimed at collecting thoughts from residents and field users about replacing sod with artificial turf on up to five athletic fields around the County.

Atomic Tumblers Host 42nd Annual Snowflake Invitational

The Los Alamos Atomic Tumblers hosted the 42nd Annual Snowflake Invitational Feb. 1 at the Los Alamos School of Gymnastics. The competition included 119 competitors from New Mexico, Texas, and Colorado. Twenty-eight gymnasts from LASG competed at their home gym in the Bronze, Silver, and Gold Xcel competitions. Elise Thalacker had a great meet on Saturday with an all around score for LASG with 36.75 for second place in the Bronze B. She also earned a gold medal on bars (9.35) and silver on vault (9.1).

Competing budget recommendations: Members of Senate Finance Committee received a crash course in billions of dollars of proposed special, supplemental and deficiency appropriations, as well as recommendations for the Government Results and Opportunity Fund.

The snowpack in Northern New Mexico  is 42-percent of normal. The weather forecast for this coming week is warm and dry. 

The Arctic Blast appears to be over. Temperatures can still  plunge well-below zero in some of our high mountain valleys.

The Moreno Valley where Eagle Nest Lake is located is a prime example. Temperatures can still fall below zero even into March. Please dress warmly and in layers. 

The record low temperature for New Mexico is -50 degrees in 1951 at Gavilan, a small community near Lindrith in Rio Arriba County.

SANTA FE – New Mexico State Parks announces the official opening of ice fishing season at Eagle Nest Lake, Fenton Lake and Sugarite Canyon State Parks.
