The September Los Alamos Mountaineers virtual meeting Tuesday evening, Sept. 28, will feature a talk by Zack Baker entitled “Packrafting the Continental Divide Trail (not really!)”.

Baker will talk about packrafting – small, inflatable kayaks that can be “packed” into a backpack and easily carried to adventures. Work On San Ildefonso Road And Camino Durasnilla Friday

SUNRISE UTILITIES News:

Starting Friday, Sept. 24, Sunrise Utilities crews will start to work close to the intersection of San Ildefonso Road and Camino Durasnilla.

The crews will repair a conduit between San Ildefonso Road and Camino Durasnilla and run a new coax line there.

A single lane closure will take place on the south lane from Ildefonso Road. Crews will be working on this south lane. It is expected that work will occur 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and be completed that day.

NMSP: Fatal Vehicle Rollover On I-25 In Santa Fe County

NMSP News:

SANTA FE – At approximately 1:53 p.m., the New Mexico State Police (NMSP) investigated a fatal crash on Interstate 25 near mile marker 291 north of Santa Fe.

The initial investigation indicates that a 2006 Toyota RAV4 was traveling north on Interstate 25 near mile marker 291. For reasons unknown, the driver of the Toyota left the roadway and rolled.

The driver, John Armijo, 65, of Pecos was ejected and sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Armijo was pronounced deceased by the Office of the Medical Investigator.

County: Atomic City Transit Route 2M (Main Hill) Will Not Operate Today Through Friday

Atomic City Transit will not operate Route 2M – Main Hill starting today, Sept. 20 through Friday, Sept. 24 due to a staffing shortage.

Please plan to use Route 2T – Truck Route, which will continue to operate its regular schedule 5:55 a.m. until 6:58 p.m., Monday through Friday.

SANTA FE — Sept. 19-25 is National Child Passenger Safety Awareness Week. The campaign focuses on the importance of properly securing children in an appropriate car or booster seat.

Atomic City Transit – Detour On Route 3 (Canyon And Central) To Begin Thursday Sept. 16

Los Alamos County’s Atomic City Transit will operate a detour on Route 3 (Canyon and Central) due to road construction work on Entrada Drive beginning Thursday, Sept. 16 until further notice.

The Route 3 detour will travel on Camino Entrada and bypass Entrada Drive bus stops #571 (by the Los Alamos Co-op) and #570 (by Holiday Inn Express), which will be closed during the detour.
