Rockfall Mitigation Begins On N.M. 502 In Los Alamos Area

NMDOT News:

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) along with GeoStabilization International (GSI) will begin a rockfall mitigation project Monday Aug. 16, in the Los Alamos area.

Due to its composition, the existing hillside is subject to rockfalls during rain and snow events, which can pose a danger to passing motorists.

The project will remove any rocks that are deemed a threat to motorists, under controlled conditions.

The project is expected to take 10 working days to complete, weather permitting.

NCRTD Resumes Service On 290 Edgewood Route Aug. 9

RTD News:

The North Central Regional Transit District’s RTD Blue Bus will resume regular route and scheduled service on the 290 Edgewood route Monday, Aug. 9.

The route had been temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 290 Edgewood route provides weekday fare-free commuter bus service from Edgewood, Moriarty, Stanley and Galisteo to points throughout the City of Santa Fe.

Atomic City Transit White Rock/Main Hill Detour Aug. 10-20

COUNTY News:

Atomic City Transit will operate a detour on Route 2M (White Rock via Main Hill) due to the Main Hill road closure starting Tuesday, Aug. 10.

Road work is expected to be completed Friday, Aug. 20, so regular Route 2M service is planned to resume Monday Aug. 23.

The Route 2M detour is expected to be active, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday while the Main Hill is closed.

During the detour, Route 2M will travel up and down the Truck Route instead of the Main Hill and will make a loop downtown after arriving at the Transit Center.

What is thought to be a Common Murre stands alone on a small iceberg spotted by Los Alamos Daily Post photographer and videographer Nate Limback during his recent 8-day trip traveling the Ring Road in Iceland.
