Los Alamos Historic Preservation Advisory Board Accepting Applications For Board Vacancy

HPAB News:

The Los Alamos Historic Preservation Advisory Board (HPAB) is accepting applications for one vacancy on the Board. Applicants must be Los Alamos residents. HPAB terms are for three years.

The next 36 months will be an exciting time as the Historic Preservation Advisory Board develops the Fuller Lodge Interpretive Plan. In addition, the Board will review the Historic Preservation Ordinance and Historic designations.

Councilors Set To Host Booth At Saturday’s Fair

The Los Alamos County Council will host a booth during the County Fair Saturday at Ashley Pond Park.

White Rock Without Power

Update: White Rock power outage UPDATE at 3:30 p.m.: the County’s Traffic Division crews are heading to White Rock with portable generators to power the intersection traffic lights on SR4 (inside White Rock) during the evening work commute, which will begin in about an hour.

A downed transmission line is the cause of a wide spread power outage that began at approximately 2:30 p.m. today in White Rock.

The effort to cleanup more than 70 years of Los Alamos National Laboratories nuclear legacy waste is no small undertaking. Through that process, the Department of Energy (DOE) estimates Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) will be fully remediated by year 2035. With a new Environmental Management contractor soon taking the reins, they will be embarking upon the hopeful beginning of the end of ‘legacy waste’ cleanup at LANL.
