Students at Pinon Elementary School in Los Alamos wanted to do something to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Classes discussed ways they could help. Teacher Stephanie Rittner said, “After a quick discussion with the Red Cross, we all decided that collecting money would be the quickest and most efficient way to get help to the victims.”

‘UNM-LA on Display’ Takes Place Nov. 15

The professors of UNM-LA welcome the public to take part in their “UNM-LA on Display” event Nov. 15.

The community is invited to attend two sessions at the UNM-LA campus, next Thursday to view the showcase of student projects from the current semester.

The sessions will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.-8 p.m. providing the viewing public with a chance to query current students about their projects.

The community will see how students utilized their education and applied it to real life applications, while noshing on some tasty treats.

The Los Alamos Family Council is hosting its first wellness seminar from noon to 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 15.

This event is part of the year-long slate of activities commemorating the community behavioral health agency’s 50-year anniversary.

Dr. Christine Hazard is presenting the seminar titled “Emotional Wellness” at Trinity on the Hill Church.

The seminar is open to anyone and applicable to everyone.
