Spring Break Camps Return To New Mexico Museum Of Natural History & Science In March And April

Back by popular demand, the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science (NMMNHS) will be hosting camps over Spring Break for the first time in years! The museum will be hosting two pairs of camps for different age groups during the weeks of March 25 and April 1.

During the first week, join us as we dig into all things paleontology! Five- to seven-year-olds can enjoy Dinosaur Explorers, an age-appropriate program that offers kids a chance to dig into the prehistoric world of the past and learn all about creatures that lived eons ago and the environments they lived in.

The weather forecast shows no major events for the rest of February. There should be significant thawing of the snowpack heading into March.

Ice fishing is holding up so far. By the end of the month, it may be ending. Eagle Nest Lake is usually the last to thaw. The ice-fishing season could be over early this year.

Streamflows should start to rise. Heavy runoff is likely still a month away.

“Bob Marley: One Love” was released to theaters on Valentine’s Day and is now playing at SALA Event Center in Los Alamos.

The music, acting, and cinematography are excellent in this film, as is the glimpse of Jamaican history. Spliced into the action occasionally is historic footage taken in Jamaica and of Marley.

JEMEZ SPRINGS — Backcountry vehicle passes for May 15 through May 31 of the 2024 summer season are now available on Recreation.gov.

The backcountry vehicle route is open May 15 through Nov. 15; weather-permitting.
